We have been producing PLA preforms for biodegradable water bottles since 2008. Our PLA water bottles were selected as part of the “Green the Capital Initiative” by then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the House of Representatives. Other US government buildings implemented a “closed-loop” program by taking the compostable bottles to the USDA Beltsville Compost Facility in the state of Maryland. 

Bottle, cap, and the label must all be plant-based plastic to ensure that the waste stream can be properly processed in different “end of life” environments.

It took five years of trial and error to develop a plant-based closure, now our biodegradable water bottles, cap, and label are finally plant-based. A product that can be processed in recycling, compost installations, boilers, and/or possibly digested in a digester that has been in continued research and development for almost 15 years.

We have bottlers in the USA – Canada – Europe – the Gulf area – and South America that can provide you with this high-end product. Our bottles of water are available in 500ml and the blown bottle, label, and cap are made from plants. No toxic fossil plastic is used in this product. A product made with natural raw materials like sugarcane is according to us the best packaging for water.

Biodegradable bottles for juice

Biodegradable juice bottles made from plants are almost ready. We believe that a plant-made bottle for a natural juice product is the ideal combination. We provide the PLA preforms and compostable plant-based closures for the bottles. Different neck sizes (38mm and 28mm) and different preform sizes for the plant-made bottles for juice can be made up to 2 liters. We are working hard on this – expected beginning of 2024.

Plant-based bottles are ideal for cold-pressed fruit en vegetable juices. PLA bottles are also used for HPP treatment of juices.

As far as we know, we may have been the first company in the world to make plant-based PLA compostable milk bottles. All this, more than 15 years ago. To this day, we still ask ourselves the same question “Why are organic and natural products packed in petroleum bottles?” It never had any logic behind it—and it still has no logic. That’s why we want to do it differently.

Why are natural products such as water, dairy, and fruit juices bottled in oil-based packaging? That is completely illogical and makes no sense. Natural products are better packaged in bottles made from natural material. Our compostable bottles are 100% made from plants and are non-GMO. No petroleum- based materials are used for the production of our preforms, caps, or labels. This way your natural products will not be contaminated with a toxic fossil plastic bottle. We do not sell our products to everyone.
We want to ensure that our compostable water bottle is always processed in the correct end-of-life solution. That is why we have chosen to only use our PLA bottles in closed-loop locations. This ensures that there is a controlled way to arrange the end of life stream. Our goal is to collect 90% of our bottles 90% of the time in order to process them in the right end of life.
